Orc Rock Lobber WIP

Here's my next project... some artilary for my O&G horde that is slowly growing. I hear that these things are getting better in 8th edition with no more guessing and no partial hits. Should be fun. Anyway, I made a base for it out of a standard movement tray and glued in some illustration board with square holes to position the crew. Its coming together nicely.

Boar boyz coming

These guys are up next...

Storm Raven

I need some feedback from my readers... I'm thinking of making a couple Storm Ravens for my Blood Angels out of the Cobra Gunship from the G.I. Joe movie. I saw them a while back, but balked at the $30 CDN price tag... well, today they $10 on clearance at Walmart, so I picked up 2. I would probably use GW bits for all the weapons and order a couple flying bases to stick them on... but no really major conversions. What do you think? Should I do it, or should I take them back and wait until GW releases something official?

Furioso Dreadnought (Plastic)

Here are some completed shots of my latest accomplishment... the plastic Furioso dreadnought I converted way back (full tutorial can be found here). The readers digest version is that I used the right arm from the iron clad dreadnought.

Anyway, this guy used most of the usual techniques... although I did do some non-metallic gold and I used reaper reds with a GW blood red glaze to get the armour just right. Enjoy.

River Trolls Painted

Here's some pics of the new plastic river trolls that I've painted up. They were a lot of a fun to paint up, and they were pretty quick. I mostly used Reaper triads to keep things simple an vibrant. A full list of paints and work in progress pics have been posted over at miniwargaming.com.

Blood Angels Assault Squad finished

Here's that squad I was working on all complete. Nothing fancy here, but I do like how the yellow on their helmets turned out. I used the reaper yellows for the highlights and then went over it with a sunburst yellow glaze and it made it a wicked rich yellow. Very happy with that.

The other neat thing about these guys is that the bases are done with coffee grinds. I have an espresso machine, so I just dried out the grinds and used them like I would sand or pebbles (white glue, scorched earth base coat, etc).

Blood Angels Assault Squad

Here's a couple pics of an a 10 man assault squad I'm working on. Nothing fancy, just some stuff to justify all the special characters I've been painting :)

I've started doing my bases a little more "realistic" rather than just using static grass. I'm doing the dirt with grass patches now, and for the dirt I'm using coffee grinds. Well, espresso grinds actually. I really like the look and have an endless supply of them. Also, since they are basically scorched brown to start with I think they have potential to be a little faster and easier. The bottom picture is with a base coat of scorched brown, highlight of bestial brown and a drybrush of Kommando Khaki. There will be better pictures when these guys are all done.
