Non Metallic Metal (test)

Here's my first go at non-metallic metal... I picked up the Reaper Learn to paint kit from miniwargaming.com during their boxing day sale. I really like how the NMM looks, but I haven't found a good guide. Anyway, I'm sure I could have found something online, but I gave this a go... here's the results of my first test... I'm sort of happy with the results, but I think it could be a lot better. Any feed back?

  1. Looks good, however, it needs one more shade to complete the effect for example his right thigh plate. I have always wanted to do the Gold NMM maybe I can find me a kit.

  2. The backpack looks particularly good, though I do agree that the thighs don't look finished. All in all, it's an amazing first attempt at such a difficult style. Kudos to you!

  3. Thanks guys... you're right about something missing on the thigh plate. The small details are fairly straight forward, but its large pieces like this that require extra patterns that are tricky... I'm going to have to rethink that bit and repaint it. I'm attempting to figure this out before the blood angels are released... however I'm pretty sure I'm going to be distracted by the new ork stuff.

  4. Really nice firs attempt. I think you could add some more light to it... Hard to say, cause I don´t know the technique my self :)
But what I mean is... as example, if you check out your kitchen or bathroom sink, you see pretty well from there how they reflect light... I would use them as a model ;)

I have always wanted to try out the NMM, but never had the guts to spoil my miniature :D This could inspire me too to try it out... Great job!

  5. Finally logged into an account so I am no longer anonymous. This link looks to be a good tutorial. http://www.warhammer-empire.com/workshop/nmm-pire.php The thigh plates need the light to me vertical instead of horizontal? Mmmm killer kans and deffdreads=missing tax return!

  6. @KarnageKing - Wow, that's a great tutorial... thanks for the link. I also found some reference stuff on CMON yesterday, so when I get a chance I'll get back to this guy.
