Orc Boar Chariot Conversion showcase

Here's a quick showcase video to go along with the one I made that explains how it was done.  A fun model with a relatively easy conversion that makes this update work.

Warhammer Forge Goblin Shaman (video plus painting guide)

This one was a quick project inbetween some of the longer ones to give me a break.  Fantasy models tend to paint up quicker, so can be a bit more rewarding because they are done faster.  This guy is from the night goblin command squad, and has some really cool effects with the smoke.  I'm not sure I did it justice, but it painted up quick, so I'm happy to move on.

Check out the video and painting guide below.

Forgeworld Goblin Shaman WIP

Here's a couple pictures of a Goblin Shaman I'm working on.  He's from the command set by Warhammer Forge.  Really cool model that I want to add to my collection... I'll have to do the BSB soon as well.

Goblin Shaman Finished (+Tutorial)

Here's that goblin shaman that I'm sure every Orc and Goblin player will pick up at some point.  He's a neat model, and fairly simple to paint, but I added some extra colour to make him stand out.  As usual, the painting guide is at the bottom of this post, and the video is after the break.  In this video I actually show the whole process (at 4x speed) because its such a fast model to paint.  I think the total painting time was under an hour (plus the time it took for the washes to dry).

Rogue Idol Finished (plus tutorial video)

Here's that Rogue Idol that's been showing up the in the background of some of my pictures.  This guy was a fun distraction from some of the other projects, mostly because its basically dry brushing stone and adding some extra depth.  I'm glad to add this to my Orc and Goblin collection... now I just need to paint up some more Orcs (and goblins).

Orc Rogue Idol WIP

I've had a lot of comments on my youtube videos lately noticing this guy in the background.... so here are some more pictures.  I've been doing some painting on this guy in between projects, and he's pretty simple overall.  Basically doing a rock drybrushing on most of the stuff then some moss and weathering...

Night Goblin Tutorial

Another painting tutorial for my Orcs and Goblins.  These little critters paint up fairly quickly, but you need  a ton of them.  As usual, the video is after the break and the painting guide (in pictures) is at the bottom of the post.

Savage Orc Big Boss (+ Tutorial)

Here's that single sprue Savage Orc Big Boss that I showed a couple weeks back.  I painted him up with my rig so that I could film the whole process (shown at 4x speed in the video below).  I have a new lens, so everything is nice and close up, but I'm having some issues keeping everything in frame.  I'll have to work on that.

Anyway, cool model, and I followed the painting guide from White Dwarf (issue with dakka jet on the cover).  My guide follows the same paints and the instructions are at the bottom of the post.

Savage Orc Boss Assembly

Here's some pictures of the single sprue plastic Savage Orc Boss that came out a little while ago.  I really like these single sprue guys and can't wait to see what kind of stuff comes out for 40k.

2012 Year in Review

Ok, so I guess its that time of year to look back and see what I accomplished in the hobby during 2012.  Outside the hobby world it was a busy year for me... I finished up my master's degree, switched jobs, moved to a new town and had some excellent vacations.

Wurrzag Completed

I posted the video on youtube a while ago, but appear to have forgotten to put it up here.  Thankfully someone left me a comment to remind me.

Gorbad Ironclaw finished

Here's a guy that I painted up when I did the other Orc charactors but just finished the video for.  I kind of followed the old masterclass article but used the new GW paints.  Fun model to paint, and I'd like to use him in a game once I have more Orcs painted up (he'd be great for a pure Orc list).

Savavage Ork Shaman on War Boar Finished

Here's some pictures and a video explaining how I painted this guy.  The paints are listed at the bottom of this post.  I did him along with Wurrzag and Grimgor, but those videos will be coming later.

Orc Charactors WIP2

Here's another batch of pictures of these guys.  They are almost done now and I'll post some videos when that happens.  Lots of fun... can't wait to move onto the next project.

Orc characters WIP

As a break from all the 40k stuff I've been working on I decided to do some of the Orc characters that have been sitting on my desk. Included are Gorbad, Wurrzag and the savage shaman on boar.

Quick Snotling Bases

Here are some snotlings I painted up quickly on the weekend.  I wanted to get a bunch of bases done up so that I can use them as charge redirectors.  They started with a green spray then I painted the bases Scorched brown.  From there the snotlings were painted Skarsnik green and washed with thraka wash.  The cloth was painted Rakarth Flesh, wood steel legion Drab and Metal was Leadbelcher.  All those got an Agrax Earthshade wash.  A little Terminatus stone drybrush on the bases and static grass and these guys were done.

Orc Shaman tutorial

Here's a tutorial for the classic Orc Shaman model. Nothing too fancy here, just some extra colour to make him stand out on the tabletop.  I have the savage orc shaman ready to go ( both on foot and boar), and I like those models better, but this guy will be a good addition to my army.

Orc boyz and Animosity Orcs

Another one from the archive.  I hadn't uploaded this video before, so here you go.  I used the animosity orcs as unit fillers as well as some other stuff.  I also used some of the boar boyz weapons to help change things up a little.

Arachnarok Painting video

Here's the follow up to the assembly of the Arachnarok... the painting video.  To save time on the spider I airbrushed the base coat, and I think it worked out well.  All the spider webs took forever, so it ended up being quite the project.  In hind sight I wish I hadn't done the flinger option, but I'll just make it count-as the vanilla one.
