30% off sale, and Canada Post is back!

Hot on the heels of Canada Post's return to work, Miniwargaming.com, is having a 30% off sale. Matthew, the owner, is turning 30, so he's having a 30% off sale. You can check out the video for more details.

GW sale before price increase

In light of GW's upcoming price increase miniwargaming.com is having a 20% off sale (which is up to 40% off of the new prices). Check it out at store.miniwargaming.com. I bought a couple metal blisters from their clearance bin (savage shaman on boar, tretch craven tail, and a doom flayer).

Batrep - Tyranids v. Blood Angels

Here's a series of videos from miniwargaming.com's beat Matt Batrep where I play against Matt's Tyranids verses my Blood Angels.

Matt has been doing a ton of Batreps in this format recently... They eventually get posted on youtube, but are posted a www.miniwargaming.com a coupe months earlier.

Orc Boyz video (animosity Orcs)

Here's the latest video released into the public that I've done for miniwargaming.com. Its of a mob of Orc boyz with the addition of the Animosity Orcs. Most of the paints are listed in the video... let me know if you have any questions.

Eye bot video

Here's the video I did of Epic Duck Mike's eyebot that I painted back here. Mike designed this and had it printed and cast in pewter. Pretty cool model that I'm probably going to use as an ammo runt.

Doom Wheel finished

Here's a bunch of completed shots of the Doom Wheel. Video will be up in the members area of miniwargaming.com soon, and posted on youtube later.

You can pick up the doom wheel from mwg here

Doom Wheel Work In Progress

Here's some work in progress shots of my Skaven Doom Wheel. I'm using GW's painting article as a guide but throwing in some reaper paints as I go. I love this model and have been wanting to finish it for a while.

Ex Illis

Was watching the world U20 semi's tonight (Go Canada!) while assembling these guys. I'm checking out the starter set for Ex Illis, a hybrid video/table top game.

So far it seems pretty much what I thought... cool looking models that a closer to true scale (not heroic). They aren't super high detail but the special charactors seem to have nice detail. I'm going to be play testing it a bit, and probably painting up a few of them. I'll keep you posted.

Ork Painboy

I think this guy has been primed and waiting for a while... which unfortunately has meant that I've used a 2nd edition painboy for my nobz mob. Anyway, finally got him finished, and it was fun because I just picked up the 2nd big paint set from Reaper, so I've got a ton of new colour triads to use. I got it through miniwargaming.com, but they don't normally carry it, but you can get it by special order. Their other reaper paints are here. I love all the extra colour variations that this set has, and I'm sure I'll be using lots of them to add some variety to my colour schemes.

Anyway, enough of that... here's the painboy. The metal bits were boltgun with badab black wash and chainmail highlights. The black parts were done with Reaper Stormy grey and cloudy grey with badab black wash. Ork flesh was done with one of my new triads (Peacock/Brilliant/Viper Green), and the gretchin orderly was Pine/Leaf/Pale Green with a thraka wash. The red parts were GW scab red, blood red and blaze orange, but the blood splatters were Reaper Bloodstain/Clotted/Carnage red. I used the Ivory white triad for the painboy's apron and the dark elf flesh triad for the hoses (something different but didn't draw attention). Anyway, think that covers most of it. Questions are welcome below.

Oh, also, I mostly used GW foundations for the base coats... this helped prevent the black showing through and gave a good base for the other colours.

40k rejects sequel (Zombies!)

Here's some models that I've painted up for miniwargaming.com and the upcoming sequel for the very popular 40k Rejects series (episode 1 of 15 here). Some of my models were featured in different episodes, so you may recognize some if you watch them all.

Anyway, in the new year MWG is going to be doing another stop motion series, but this time with zombies and Reaper mini's. Here are some work in progress shots of the main characters.

Kommando article posted

Here's a followup for the Kommandos I did back in April. A full article with work in progress shots and a full list of paints I used is up on miniwargaming.com. This was orginally posted to their members area, but is now free to the public (3 months later). I'm interested in the new forgeworld upgrade... so perhaps more Kommandos are in the cards. I used a small mob of them with Snikrot in the 40k tournament that GW hosted and they are a great complement to my 4 deff rolla list :)

Boar Boyz Done

I've finally finished off my unit the new plastic Boar Boyz. I decided to do 15 of them, and it ended up taking me a few weeks (mostly because of school taking up so much time). Anyway, they're done, and I really like how they turned out. I used the GW painting article as a basic guide, but deviated in a few areas. The one disappointing thing is how these guys rank up... or rather, don't rank up. You basically can't get them to go together end to end, so I had to make the movement tray longer. I guess heroic scale is creeping again.

Here are a few pics, but a full batch of work in progress shots as well as a complete list of paints are posted at miniwargaming.com.

Again, check out the full article (way more pictures and list of paints) over at miniwargaming.com (free article, no login required).
