Here's some pictures of the finished Blood Angels Dreadnought that I converted using left over bits from the Furioso kit and an assault on black reach dreadnought. I'll be making a video of this soon and posting it.

Here's a couple work in progress shots of the new Blood Angels kit... actually, this is the Assault on Black Reach dreadnought converted to with some of the left over bits from the Blood Angels kit. The conversion is shown at the end of the assembly video here

I've uploaded some youtube clips of the furioso dreadnought I did a little while back. Same pictures as before, but with commentary. I used the Assault on black reach dreadnought arms and the ironclad dreadnought body.

Furioso Dreadnought (Plastic)

Here are some completed shots of my latest accomplishment... the plastic Furioso dreadnought I converted way back (full tutorial can be found here). The readers digest version is that I used the right arm from the iron clad dreadnought.

Anyway, this guy used most of the usual techniques... although I did do some non-metallic gold and I used reaper reds with a GW blood red glaze to get the armour just right. Enjoy.

DIY Weathering powders

So I've been really interested in getting some of the weathering powders that seem to be the rage lately. Unfortunately there aren't any local retailers that carry them, and shipping to Canada has killed any other deals. So, I pulled some old ideas out of my scale model history and decided to give soft pastels a shot. Note, these are not oil pastels, and are very similar to chalk (in consistency). Anyway, I picked up the cheapest package at my local Michael's craft store (with a 40% off coupon of course) and gave it a shot. Here are some pictures of my results. No black magic here... I just scraped the powder with the edge of an exacto knife, applied it with a big brush and used mineral spirits to wet it after.

The results are ok, but I think that's partly due to the lack of colour options. I'll keep experimenting and let you know.

Plastic Furioso Dread

Here's a conversion I'm working on... a fully platic Furioso Dreadnought. I'll probably be posting a full how-to article on miniwargaming.com, but its pretty obvious what I did. Take the Ironclad dreadnought right close combat arm and put the fist on it from another kit and give it another close combat arm from another kit. In my case I used some Assault on black reach parts to make this happen. I also used the shin pads from the Dark Angels raven wing sprue (modified to look like a blood drop) and the blood angels icon from the drop pod kit. Some other purity seals were also added. Here's what he looks like now:

Space Wolves vehicles article posted

I've just added Part 6 of my Space Wolves articles to miniwargaming.com. This one follows up on last week's article about airbrushing vehicles and adds all the general details to make them table top ready. I still need to do some weathering stuff to them, but its time to move on to the next project.

Space Wolf Dreadnought

Here's a couple pics of the Space Wolves dreadnought I painted up the other day. I airbrushed the base colours (Reaper blue grey triad) and managed to do the rest of the details in about an hour and a half. Its based on an Assault on Black Reach dread with a Space Wolves shield glued and another icon glued on the front. Works for me.

I'll be posting articles weekly with a bit more detail then I go into in these blog posts, however this will still be the better source for what I'm working on currently.
