How to Paint a Broodlord

Here's a quick tutorial showing a nice paint scheme for the Broodlord in Space Hulk.  Since the Tyranid and Blood Angels box is coming out I thought this would be a timely tutorial.  This guy painted up really fast, partly because I had already basecoated and washed the blue before starting.  Otherwise its a straightforward video with results I'm happy with.

**update** there have been some comments on youtube about the length of the video... any thoughts from this crowd?  too short, just right, any feedback?

Space Hulk Genestealer tutorial (Quick and easy)

Ok, so a confession... I started painting the Space Hulk Terminators from the last release and never finished them.  I didn't even start the Genestealers, so now I want to correct that by painting these guys up quickly.  I hope to spend a bit more time on the broodlord, but the main ones need a quick paint job.  Below is a tutorial that's basically a drybrush and wash technique to paint up the 22 genestealers fast.  Should look decent on the table top, definitely better than table top.

Tutorial: Hive Fleet Leviathan

Here's the third (final?) tutorial for Tyranids to celebrate the new codex coming out tomorrow.  I painted this one up with a was over white like the Leviathan one, but don't love the way it turned out.  I think its too purple, but didn't want to do another layer over it.  In hind sight it should have had that, or I should have just painted the first purple wash in the joints.

Hive Fleet Kraken Painting guide and Tutorial

Here's the second Hive Fleet to make into tutorial form... Kraken.  I used another quick method of doing the skin (white base, wash and drybrush).  This is great as long as you don't mess it up later by getting paint on it.  If this does happen it can be difficult to colour match the touch-up.

Here's a tutorial to go along with the newly announced Tyranid codex.  I've got a few Termagaunts that I'm painting up in the three main hivefleets to show how to quickly paint up your horde.  Here's Behemoth, and coming soon will be Leviathan and Kraken.

Trygon Warpstone Painting contest - Winner

I managed to paint up the Trygon I was working on for today's Warpstone National Painting contest at my local GW (Burlington Ontario). There was some stiff competition and I managed to win by a hair over Trygon Prime that had an amazing scenic base (and great paintjob). I've posted a full article over at www.miniwargaming.com including all the paints I used and lots of pictures. Here's a couple of the finished product.

Here's some pics of the brand new Trygon kit going together. I'm going to be painting this guy up for Sunday's painting contest at the GW store in Burlington... should be fun.


The kit goes together really well with only a few seams needing some putty. It didn't take long to assemble, but the head is going to be hard to magnetize in order to get all the options (I think). Anyway, here's some pictures... I'll be posting more about it once I get to painting it.
