Dark Angels Tactical Squad WIP

Here's some pics of the Dark Vengeance tactical marines.  They are a slight improvement from the Assault on Black Reach box set, but will be pretty poor compared to the rumoured tactical squad re-cut thats supposed to come out next year.  I started these guys out with a green spray paint to make the green base coat go faster.  Paints listed at the bottom of this post.

  1. DO you thinks its to much to hope for a re-sculpt and not just a re-cut?

  2. Heya, love your minis and your tutorials, I have a problem hopefully you can help. I am an experienced painter, but when it comes down to highlighting dark angels I get frustrated. No matter what brand of green I'm using, snot, vallejos, or the new warpstone I always get breakedge in lining. How do you exactly highlight yours? If I don't water it down, the lining is too stark and bright, making it look neon. Lol I have a plethora of dark angel boxes and was hoping of finishing an army but it's looking like it ain't gonna happen. Thanks for your time.

    1. Hey Randy, you've got a few options. The simple one may be to mix the base colour with the highlight, thin it slightly and try again. Or, you can do a lighter base coat and just give it a dark wash... or you can drybrush. Thinning the paints and doing multiple layers is the best way, but takes time and practice.

    2. I had the similar problem and have started using the medium to thin out the paint with that and it helps apply a really thin layer of paint on which doesn't dry.
I've then also created a very watery dark green wash that goes over the top of it all to tone down the highlights. works quite well for me!
