Cave Trolls Complete

Here we go, I even finished the bases on these guys. All I really had to finish were the spots on the cow and the bases. Since there were only 3 of them (and one was done) I figured I should finish them off. Here's some pics:

Cave Trolls (almost done)

Getting closer... I hopefully will have them finished tonight. I finished the red, bone, rope and metal sections. Now its just some details and the cow before I finish off the bases.

I've noticed a couple things have been added to the clearance bin over at miniwargaming.com. Most tempting for me right now is another copy of Assault on Black Reach for $63 CDN (I can never have too many orks, and I plan on starting blood angels when they come out), the ork Truk for $25.20 CDN as well as a couple other deals too good to pass up.

A little more progress on the cave trolls last night. I used bronzed flesh to bring out the face and started on the stuff on their backs. Some more washes to bring out the colours as well.

Airbrushing cave trolls

A little late, but I finally got around to base coating my additional cave trolls. I wanted these two to look similar to the one I had done previously, and since I airbrushed the base colours on it I did the same with these. I used my Tamiya paints thinned with isopropyl alcohol. Rather than explaining what I did I'll just post a bunch of pictures. Nothing too fancy was done, just using the airbrush to get smooth transitions between colours.

Cave Trolls

I'm going to start painting my 2nd and 3rd cave trolls now. I have two from the Battle for Skull Pass box, and I picked up a 3rd in MWG's sale last week. I wanted the two plastic ones to look a bit different, so I carved out the dwarf bit in his hands and replaced it with the cow from the giant kit. I think it'll add a nice bit of character to the unit. Here's a link to the troll I painted back in August.
